The 5th DELHI LITERATURE FESTIVAL 2017

The Opening Session this year was with Swapna Liddle on her book Chandni Chowk :The Mughal City of Old Delhi and the Festival was Inaugurated by the Chief Guest Babul Supriyo, Hon’ble Minister for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, Govt. of India and popular Singer.

DLF 2017 saw presence of best selling authors, economists and poets including Avijit Ghosh Author Up Campus Down Campus, Ashok Vajpeyi Sahitya Akademi Awardee, popular young Authors Ira Trivedi Author Love: Marriage and Sexuality in the 21st Century, The Great Indian Love story, Ravinder Singh Author I Too Had a Love Story, Can Love Happen Twice?, Dr. Ashok Chakradhar on humour and poetry.

Dr. Vinay Bharat Ram Author Evolution of Economic Ideas Smith to Sen and Beyond, Noted Economist Dr. Surjit S Bhalla, Anurag Batra Chairman & Editor in Chief - BW Businessworld, Arun Kumar Author Understanding the Black Economy and Black Money in India, T K Arun, Editor Opinion, The Economic Times participated in a Panel discussion on Demonetization: Intent, Implementation and Impact.,

Dr. Blossom Kochhar Author, Aroma Therapy a Way of Life, Debashis Chatterjee Author Invinsible Arjuna, William Dalrymple Author Kohinoor and Tarek Fatah on Rise of Nationalism a Global Phenomenon, amongst others.

The Delhi Literature Festival had it’s share of art and music in the form of Dastangoi, The Art of Urdu Storytelling performed by Ankit Chadha. The word Dastangoi refers to the art of storytelling, it is a compound of two Persian words Dastan and goi which means to tell a Dastan.
Swachh Bharat’s tieup with the Amar Chitra Katha for comic books, for popularising and creating more awareness amongst the younger children was promoted at this year’s Festival.
The 5th Delhi Literature Festival for the first time offered the “Festival Edition Merchandise” created by the Books etc. The Festival Edition Merchandise included Mugs, Coasters, Tray, Table Lamps, Wall Clock, Tote Bags, Cushion Covers and Notebooks.

Oxford Bookstore, was the “Official Bookstore Partner” like last year and saw some brisk sale of the popular novels by Authors present at the Festival.

This year’s Festival was Co-organised by the Indian Public Library Movement and supported by the Department of Art, Culture & Languages, Government of NCT of Delhi and (Swachh Bharat) Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India.


The other Sponsors and Partners for the Festival included CG Corp Global, PP School, Vodafone, Ola, Safexpress, Junction the new venture by Umang Tewari was the Official Host, Cha Bar, Bisleri, Graphisads & TDI as Outdoor Partners.
