The Delhi Literature Festival had it’s share of art and music in
the form of Dastangoi, The Art of Urdu Storytelling
performed by Ankit Chadha. The word Dastangoi refers to the art of storytelling, it is a compound of two
Persian words Dastan and goi which means to tell a Dastan.
Swachh Bharat’s tieup with the
Amar Chitra Katha for comic books, for popularising and creating more awareness
amongst the younger children was promoted at this year’s Festival.
The 5th Delhi
Literature Festival for the first time offered the “Festival Edition Merchandise” created by the Books etc. The Festival Edition
Merchandise included Mugs, Coasters, Tray, Table Lamps, Wall Clock, Tote
Bags, Cushion Covers and Notebooks.
Oxford Bookstore, was the “Official
Bookstore Partner” like last year and saw some brisk sale of the popular novels
by Authors present at the Festival.
This
year’s Festival was Co-organised by the Indian
Public Library Movement and supported by the Department of Art, Culture & Languages, Government of NCT of Delhi
and (Swachh Bharat) Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India.

Central excise day is celebrated all over India on 24th February to instill a sense of oneness and sincerity in service amongst officers of the Excise Department and to help public to ensure better tax compliance. The day marked enactment of the central excise and Salt Act, 1944. Different programs were organized by the government authorities. On this day companies with meticulous performance were felicitated and few of the most deserving employees were rewarded of their matchless sincere duty towards the government and to the nation.

Melody Queen Richa Sharma at Indian Idol Season 7! It would be the simplest thing in the world that Richa Sharma is a phenomenal singer and get done with it. But her talent isn't that easy or slot or unravel nor is her genius easily classifiable or even observable.
One doesn't need an excuse to pay a tribute to one of the gems of IndiaMusic Industry- Richa Sharma. The Maahi Ve singer was seen in this week's Indian Idol Season 9 episode where the contestants paid a tribute to her by singing her songs. Basically it was an episode dedicated to the singer which was high on musical richness & some of her hit songs like Dil Jude Bina Hi Tut, Sajda, Baghban (Title Song) & many more "I am truly honored. A musically tribute to a singer is a matter of respect & pride especially on a platform like Indian Idol which has given the Industry some of the best singer the country has seen. It is a delight to see so many singer coming forth and perusing their dreams " says Richa Sharma.
The moment she walked in, she bought a different aura with her. Heads turned when Richa Sharma stepped on the stage of Indian Idol. Every single person including Farah Khan, Sonu Nigam & Anu Malik were on their feet, clapping, cheering and chanting her name. This was the magic of Richa Sharma.

The contestants displayed their singing prowess and seemed overwhelmed with Richa Sharma's presence. She even performed with some of them & set the Mahol on the stage. To everyone's surprise, she was so impressed that she was seen given standing ovation to most of them & praising them for their rhythm & voice "These singers took me back to the era of R.D Burman, Laxmikant Pyarelal. It was that time when singers were soulful & then we have these singers who have the talent transport the listeners to a different era. It is my honor that I got to be a part of such a platform"
Praising the show, she said “Indian Idol is a show that genuinely searches for good singing talent. Its foremost aim is to provide a platform to young singers and that’s why I decided to become a part of this journey,” revealed the evergreen singer.

The dynamic duo of Ratan Kaul and Parull Mahaajan hosted a lively lunch afternoon for Dr Shashi Tharoor at Deepak Khosla's residence at Prithvi Raj Road to celebrate the success of Dr Shashi Tharoor's book 'An Era of Darkness: The British Empire in India' which is a non-fiction on the inglorious legacy of the Colonial Raj in our land. The book was launched on the evening of November 4 in Delhi by the Hon'ble Vice President of India, Shri Hamid Ansari and is already into the 7th reprint. Seen at the lunch were the Ambassadors of several countries and the Czars and Czarinas of the literary world like Taslima Nasreen, Dr Kavita A. Sharma and Sukanya Bharatram to name a few.....
