Information Department of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in India along with Russian News Agency "Sputnik News" hosted Video Conferance on "Struggle Against International Terrorism: Current Threats and ways to Minimise Them

India observes May 21st as the Day of Counter- Terrorism or Anti-Terrorism Day. On this day in 1991, former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated. This day is observed to create awareness among different sections of people regarding the danger of terrorism and violence and its ill effect on society. Russia and India have been expanding cooperation in a wide range of areas,both at the bilateral level and within the framework of international structures- the UN, BRICS, the SCO.

Experts from Russia and India discussed the issues related to the fight against international terrorism,joint steps to counter international terrorism, as well as common threats and ways to minimize them during the video conferance.

Speakers from India were - 1) Brigadier Rahul Bhonsle (Retd.) who is expert in Crisis management and Security, Director, Sasia Security- Risks.com

2) Brigadier V. Mahalingam (Retd). who is expert in Security Affairs Analyst and Commentator.

3) Mr Qamar Agha who is Author & Defense and Security Analyst.


Speakers from Russia were- 1) Mr Yuri Negernyak who is Director General of the International Foundation for the Promotion of the Developement of Culture, Moscow.

2) Mr. Alexei Kupriyanov who is researcher of the Department of International Political Problems, Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow.


Conferance was ended with fruitful discussions. This event fully managed by Ms Olga Dycheva who is Bureau Chief Sputnik news India.
